UNIBEN Set to Hold Its 51st Convocation and 55th Founders’ Day Celebration

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is once again set to celebrate academic excellence and its proud legacy of learning as it hosts the 51st Convocation Ceremony alongside the 55th Founders’ Day celebrations. The week-long event promises to bring together students, alumni, staff, and distinguished guests to honor the institution’s long-standing tradition of excellence and growth.

The celebration will kick off on Sunday, November 23, 2025, with an Interfaith Service, followed by the Founders’ Day Lecture on Monday, November 24. The main convocation activities will take place later in the week — the Convocation Lecture and Award of Undergraduate Degrees on Friday, November 28, and the Award of Postgraduate Degrees on Saturday, November 29. All events will be held at the Akin Deko Auditorium, Ugbowo Campus, starting at 10:00 AM daily.

For graduating students, this marks a major milestone — the long-awaited moment to walk the stage and celebrate years of dedication and hard work. To make the most of the occasion, graduands are encouraged to prepare early by ensuring all clearance procedures are completed, collecting their academic gowns on time, and confirming their seating arrangements. It’s also important to stay updated through official university channels for any last-minute announcements or changes.

Beyond the ceremonies, the convocation offers a time for reflection and connection. Graduands can take the opportunity to celebrate with friends and family, capture memories across campus, and attend the lectures to gain insights from distinguished speakers and alumni.

As UNIBEN celebrates its 55th year of establishment, the convocation also serves as a reminder of the university’s continued commitment to “knowledge for service.” It is a moment of pride — not just for the graduating class, but for the entire UNIBEN community that continues to uphold the spirit of excellence and innovation.
